Michigan Lawyers Protecting Your Second Amendment Rights

At THE WOLF LAW FIRM, we are dedicated to protecting the Second Amendment gun rights of law-abiding citizens. Firearm ownership is a basic constitutional right. We assist individuals who wish to obtain a gun permit but are having difficulty getting approval. We also help gun owners whose gun rights have been taken away for a technical violation.

In Michigan, you may be convicted of carrying a concealed weapon (CCW). It is illegal to carry a concealed firearm or dangerous weapon if you do not have concealed pistol license (CPL). The law states that:

A person shall not carry a pistol or any other dangerous weapon concealed on or about his or her person, or concealed in a vehicle operated or occupied by the person, except in his or her home, place of business or other property he or she owns, without a license to carry the pistol as provided by law. If licensed, the person shall not carry the weapon in a manner inconsistent with the license (Michigan Code of Law 750.227).

A law-abiding citizen may be charged with carrying a concealed weapon for unknowingly breaking the law. For example, an individual may face charges for forgetting that he or she has his or her gun in the holster when going to an airport. Or maybe the individual was in lawful possession of the gun, but was charged with carrying a concealed weapon because the police officer was quick to make an arrest.

Firearm Possession in Commission of a Felony

In addition to protecting individuals' Second Amendment gun rights, we also represent individuals who have been charged with possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. If you have been charged with a felony and are found to be in possession of a firearm, you face a two-year mandatory minimum prison term which will run consecutively to any other prison term given for any other conviction. For example, if you have been charged with selling marijuana and were found carrying a weapon, you will have two years added on to your sentence. Our attorneys will vigorously defend you to minimize the penalties.

Defending Your Constitutional Rights

Our attorneys will aggressively defend you against these charges. We will provide a defense strategy based on the circumstances surrounding your arrest. We will explore and investigate any self-defense claim and possible 5th and 6th Amendment constitutional violations which might allow evidence suppression and dismissal of your case.

You can count on THE WOLF LAW FIRM to aggressively defend your constitutional right to bear arms. Contact our Oakland County law office at (248) 804-8578 to talk to a lawyer who will help get your gun rights reinstated.
